  1. I recently got a TV show on DVIX (avi) and I want to convert it, sound and all, to SVCD so I can play it on my DVD player. I tried Nero (trial version) but it says I need some plugin for Mpeg-4. I burned it anyway and all I get is sound. I also tried TMPGenc and get nothing when I play it back. Is there anything I need to do before I use TMPGenc and what settings do I use on it? Do I use 4:3 525 line NTSC? Also, I don't have a DVD burner, so I'm just using CD's. I miss the good ol' days when people posted mostly VCD/SVCD.

Here are the specs of the file:

    Video Format.........: DivX 5.21
    Video Bitrate........: 1300
    Audio Format.........: AC3
    Resolution...........: 640 x 480
    Color................: 24 bit
    FPS..................: 29.97
    Source...............: On-Air HDTV
    Original Format......: NTSC

    Thanks!

    Jeff

    Have you installed divx 5?

Convert the ac3 audio to wav and use in tmpgenc. You can use goldwave, install first ac3filter, open the avi, save as a wav.

Open the avi in tmpgenc, select the wav as audio source, select the ntsc svcd profile or use the wizard and select ntsc svcd.
