  1. Hello...

I have Trailers in HD WMV, DivX and MOV in that i want converting to 2 types ....

    1. to be watchable on stand-alone DVD players ... (VOB etc)

    and

    2. to be watchable on a DivX DVD Player .... (DivX/AVI/MPG etc)

also what is the highest resolution a normal DivX codec can display? (that would work on my DivX DVD Player)

Iam Quite good with PCs etc and know how to convert everything else...

    THANKS

FAVC or DVD Flick for converting to DVD

Perhaps AutoGK for converting to Divx/Xvid

would they still be in HD quality format tho? i have a film in WMV HD format that i want to play on either my xbox 360 or convert to HD DVD but is too big at moment for dual layer so is there a way to shrink the wmv file a little or ideally convert to HD DVD

    No.

If they are converted to either standard DVD Video or Xvid/Divx under 720 pixels across then they are no longer HD. But they are playable on standard DVD or Divx players, which HD is not.

Something like the latest Ulead DVD Moviefactory would be one of the cheapest HD DVD authoring options. The functionality is limited, but the output is HD.

You can convert - you don't want to convert

Only the latest version does it. Older versions will be DVD only. Checks your to see if it does, or if you are eligible for an upgrade.

  15. That FLVC says that unable to convert.. due to AViSynth not installed or correct codec?

    ALSO

AutoGK doesnt see these clips, when i force it its says "Unsupported Type"

These are High Definition .MOV / .WMV Clips i want converted to standard DVD and .AVI (or .DivX/.MPG)

    thanks

Try DVD Flick, or failing that, ConvertXtoDVD for DVD

WinFF might be worth a look for Xvid encoding

  18. ...............Ive now installed K-Lite Mega-Codec Pack THEN newest FFshow and they now convert in WinAVI but still in HD as far as Im aware as the resolution is only slightly smaller or same......

It seems impossible to downcode HD to SD

Then you are doing something wrong. Even WinAVI, crap as it is, can scale down. You have missed something along the way.

WinAVI is low quality, unstable and unreliable and poorly supported. That you have to install a codec pack and risk crapping out the video playback of your system just to get it working should tell you to steer clear.

As for scaling down - you have to set an output resolution. If you want these to play on a Divx player you need to get the resolution down to 720 x 480 or less (NTSC) or 720 x 576 or less (PAL) unless you have a Divx Ultra player. You may have to consult whatever help comes with WinAVI on how to do this.

You would be on of the few. And when it comes to encoding, speed is not virtue if it comes at the cost of quality. And with WinAVI, it does. However, if you are happy with it . . . .

Divx Ultra is the next level of Divx certification. Divx Ultra certified players can playback Divx files at HD resolution, higher bitrates, with menus and chapters etc.

You would have to check your local home theatre suppliers

No longer HD, you are definitely right, period

But hey, do you know how to work with Paint Shop Pro or other similar soft ?

Movies is just only a bunch of images, you must up-resize, or down-resize just like you do in PSP...if you know it, or Corel, whatever...If you take a big image and down-resize...what method do you use ?

Well, you can take a big HD image and down-resize to standard PAL or NTSC using the right method

And if you use a good CQM...and just keep the original audio, then you will get definitely a extremely good DVD

    It is all relative
