  1. Greetings all,

I've recently purchased an Adaptec USB video capture device (2210) that came bundled with MyDVD4. Fortunately, I already had a copy of MyDVD 5.3 that came with my Dell, so I'm using the newer version (version 4 was even flakier than this one).

My problem is this: When I capure from my camcorder, which is a 30 minute tape, it seems to work. The files size of the captured file seems big enough (about 1.6 Gig) and the length in minutes is correct (at least on the initial capture screen) when the capture is completed.

BUT, when I play back the clip, in either WMP or in MyDVD, or in Nero Vision Express, the length of the clip is always some random time, like 4 minutes 15 seconds, or 9 minutes 3 seconds, or some time that does not reflect the entire 30 minute video clip. This happens on every tape that I record, and I've recorded several. And even more mysterious is the fact that if I let the video clip play uninterrupted in WMP, even though it gives an abbreviated time, it will play the whole freaking clip. The time slider stops at whatever time it says the clip is long, but it keeps playing. But if I burn a DVD it only plays the shortened version of the video.

I've downloaded WMP 10 and as far as I know I have the current codecs, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Adaptec's tech support is clueless and Google has been unusually unhelpful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and it may even save me from pulling out my hair.

    Thanks.

  2. Maybe it has something to do with the available space nesc. for dvd creation.

What's the size and free space on the HD?

What's the intial video format? AVI?

  3. File size is not an issue as I have about 40 Gig of available space. In regards to the file type, it is an mpeg file. Sonic is not very user-friendly and as far as I can tell there is no option to change the file type. If that is an option, I'd definitely try it.
