I want to know if I can take a cd, make it into a mp3 file. Also from mpeg, turn the song that is playing into a mp3 also. If so, which program and how?

ok i hope i understand your question since your chronological order is screwed up but i think this is what u want to know-

If lets say your dvd player cannot play mp3s, you can make a vcd that holds 98 tracks in vcd standard!!
NOTE- vcd only holds up to 98 tracks so no need for xvcd

If you want to convert your mpg to mp3, this is the only way i know-

Import the mpg into tmpgenc, go to file, then output file to wav
From there use- Electronic cosmo MPEG Suite 2000.
Its teh fastest encode and decoder of mp3s i have ever seen
Decodes in 8 sec flat with a 600 MHz 128 mb ram
Encodes in 19 sec flat with same specs.

if its possible to make the sound of an mpeg into mp3. yes you can. split video and sound. turn sound into vaw and make it mp3 in your favorite mp3enc.

and as said above the outher way works fine too..
