  1. I encoded my AVI file with TMPgenc 2.5 and added subititles
then I burn my mpeg file with VCDEasy 2.0

I watch the VCD on computer and looks fine when I put in my DVD Player
I only can see on my TV the first subititle line second one looks more down and I barely can see it any idea to fix this position?

    Thanks

  2. I understand you are making permanent subtitles. How you add them? Are they text based or idx/sub?

    using virtualdub?

  5. TMPgenc 2.5 grabs the subtitle with the same name that the AVI and in UVFAPI plug-in options I put High Priority for Direct Show Multimedia File Reader.

I'm using this tutorial for adding them with TMPgenc 2.5:

  9. Then again - ffdshow or DirectVobSub?
Anyway both have ability to position subs at the screen. So try to get them higher in the preview window of TMPG - you can deal only with small part of the movie, encode with different style of subs position, burn all small encoded files on CD-RW and test in the player

  10. Do you know how to make them higher in TMPGEnc 2.5
because I can't find anything about that and it will really help me.

Do you have ffdshow installed? Start->Programs->ffdshow?

When you play the movie with the subs do you see a green arrow in the system tray?

We can't help if don't know what you are using.

Not in TMPG! You set the subtitle position either in ffdshow or in DirectVobSub.
You posted in the same time. So in the instalation folder of VobSub there is small utility called SubResynch. With it you can adjust the subtitle position.

  14. yep your subs are too low to begin with, when you watch a vcd on a tv all round the edges aren't displayed (cliped offf!!!), your subs are still there just off the screen. when you watch a vcd on a pc it dosen't clip it!!!!

  16. Ok now from here all goes fine I changed subtitles position now
my player has some problems playing VCD I used new CD-RW media
VCD plays fine after 5 minutes looks like an error ? tries to loop like 15 seconds. I recorded other MPEGs and happens the same stuck in some part of the video.

Is this something to do with my Home DVD player or because I
used VCD Easy 3.0 to make the VCD 2.0

    Thanks

  17. hummm.....

sounds like a crap cd or burn, try doing a full format on the cd & burn at a lower speed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you can't keep doing quick formats on a RW, you have to do full formats once in a while!!!!!

worst case by a new one!!!!

  18. I used a new blank CD-RW so no need of full format.

Burning at a lower speed, lower than 4X? Ok I will try that.

Any other "good" software for burning VCD besides VCDEasy 3.0?

  19. yep save it as a bin& cue file then ur spoilt for choice!!!!

  20. 4x should have been ok, maybe the cd isn't good.

if it was 4x (max) it should have been fine.....

keep to the speeds labled on the disc,....
