I have lines on my TV (and PC, too I think) in almost all the video I encode. They are horizontal, all the way across, evenly spaced, from the top to the bottom, very light you can hardly see them. I don't know if it's my DVD player or the video themselves. It's not an interlaced effect because none of my video I encode is interlaced. A lot (if not all) of the retail DVDs I play are interlaced and the TV picture is always good. I use TMGEnc to encode to DVD mpegs even though most files I encode are VCD quality. I've encoded using CBR and VBR >= 4000 kbps. For instance I'll have a wmv@1750 kbps and I'll encode it to mpeg@4000 kbps. I increase the bitrate because the encoder increases the output resolution. I have a cheap $45 Apex DVD player but like I said it plays retail DVDs fine. Have any ideas?

    Hi rjc7394,

    1. What's the source? In terms of file type (use GSpot, post a screen print) and where are they from - cam, downloads etc.
    2. If it's destined for TV, it needs to be interlaced - irrespective of the source. That's why your interlaced commercial DVDs are OK...
    3. Try swapping the field order - it could be that...
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.
