    1111, please be more specific...what type of .avi file is it? What OS are you using? So you have the right codec's installed? Have you tried opening the file in a different player? Where was the file obtained from? etc.

    These could all help pinpoint your problem..when asking questions, please be thorough about the problem.

    qdv.dll is a directshow runtime.

    This error is usually resolved with a Windows Update for older systems like Windows Me or Windows 98. It's generally a DirectX or ASPI update that is required.

    I have XP sp1 and updated DirectX 9c....still crashed on me.
    Try reregistering the qdv.dll, sometimes reinstalling Directx does not fix registry errors. Go to Start>Run, and type regsvr32 qdv.dll - this will reregister the file in Windows.
