I get the error message (see screenshot) when I right click on an avi. This only seems to happen on avi's - not other types of files. I can still continue with any other options (such as "open") and I can X out the error message after clicking the X several times. However, when I right click on any file, the cpu usage goes to 100% ( explorer.exe running at 99%). This stays at 100% until I select any option (such as click"open" ) and then cpu usage goes down to normal. Does anybody know what the error message means, and why does the cpu run at 100% when I right click on any file?

It's usually caused by a bug in the codec associated with the video in the AVI file.

What format is it? (DivX, DV etc)John Miller

Xvid 1.1.0, but any avi seems to do this. Also, I still don't understand why the cpu goes to 100% when I right click on ANY file.

	Try this:

From the Start-->Run icon in Windows, enter

 regsvr32 /u "c:\windows\system32\shmedia.dll"
