ive been recording movies for me and my friends for some time. most of the time i never rewatched my recordings, just doing a quick chapter search to check that everything looks ok. im pretty sure my stand alone dvd player is a little outdated. i only bought it for a remote region code hack. but ive noticed that if i play my recordings straight through to watch, about 15 to 20 minites into the movie it starts to slow down and jump. ive done realtime dubs and high speed dubs. my friend has the same dvd player as i do. believe to be daewoo 3600 or 3700 and has the same problem. 1 move i had played fine for him but i dont remember how i dubbed the film. all the dvds play fine in my PS2 though but if i high speed dub on a 4x disc the PS2 wont read it. if i record the 4x in real time dub, it plays fine. high speed dubs on 2x play fine on ps2 but those discs are hard to find now. the blank media is TDK which i heard is best compatible with the recorder. anyone with a panny model that has experenced these problems and found a solution please help ot a fellow dvd recorder owner whos down on his luck.

Gosh, I just sold my E100. Try doing this to see if it works. In setup, under disc, make sure "DVD compatible rec" is on. This is usually recommended especially if you're doing high speed dubs. Also, I've tried an 8x disc in the E100 (which would default to 4x recording speed) and made two coasters in a row. I concur that the TDK 2x media is the best. Circuit City supposidly has 25 packs for $2.99; however, most places are out of stock. I got rid of my E100 in anticipation for the upcoming Panny's in April/May. They will offer a better encoder chip + it will have a multi drive to handle all formats except dual layered for the MSRP of $499.
Also, get a PC dvd burner for $60 at newegg and use the free software dvdshrink to backup your movies. You can do everything under an hour and works great + you retain your dolby surround sound audio. I'm trying to convince my buddy to do this way, but he want's to use your method which is very time consuming and creates a subpar picture. Good luck
p.s. I have a bunch of 2x TDK dvd-rs. I stocked up once I found out that TDK was using Ritek G04s for their 4x discs; I don't think TDK makes their own discs anymore. These are considered Grade A discs and top of the line. I'm saving them for my next standalone. I think you need them more than me. If I recall I paid .70/disc (I remember doing the math in my head at the store). PM me if you get desperate.
