Are there any good methods of converting a dvd to divx/xvid in one step? I love for instance dvd2one when converting a dvd9 to dvd5, no hassle just input the video_ts folder and press start. What about conversion to avi?

Look at Gordian Knot and Auto Gordian Knot

I'm sure there are guides here. There are also guides on the DOOM9 WEBSITE as well.

  3. AutoGK is probably your best bet. Not quite one-click, but so close even a bare beginner won't have problems. Just input the DVD folder, choose the output filename, soundtrack you want (usually selected automatically), select "Add Job" and "Start."

One thing about AutoGK, it adds a spyware called "DAE" to your PC which is very easy to remove... just go to Control Panel/Add Remove Programs right after installing AutoGK, and uninstall "DAE" then reboot. It's totally gone after this and AutoGK still works fine. Too many people complaining about this one and it's really no issue at all.
