Converting from DivX.avi to mpeg

Hello All,
Please am in despirate need of your help, i just convert a DivX.avi movie to Mpeg and when i play it the video quality was good but there was no sound. I have the DivX4.11 codec and i just installed alpha 3.11 and i tried it but still no sound.

The size of the movie was 1.14gigabit, do i need to cut it or compress it please which should i go for?

Please your quick responce will be highly appreciated, thank you for your time.

Have you tried seperating audio from the movie?

With VirtualDub in Full processing mode go to file -> Save WAV and save audio to a file which you then rename from WAV to MP3. Use DIVx AVi as video source and MP3 file as audio source. I have tried this in TMPGEnc and worked great.

I had the same problem, solution I used? raise your directshow to priority 1 under options-enviromental settings-vfapi plugin. I found 1(+) to be best since anything higher made encoding slower and divx playback wasnt working correctly (artifacting bad)

Hey, i tried to covert a Divx to mpeg, but I had the opposite problem. I have audio, but no video. I used TMPG to convert, and I remember last time I tried converting it played video in the black box during conversion. This time there was no video. What did I do wrong?
