I am having a problem using mpeg stream clip to export my mpeg files to avi. I am trying to get an uncompressed conversion. I don't quite understand why the converted avi file ends up being almost 10 times bigger than the original mpeg file. can anyone explain to me why this occurs and/or what I can do to get an exact size avi of my mpeg?

You have completely different compression schemes. AVI is not MPEG and MPEG is not AVI. Also, AVI is just a container, and you need to know the video codec within. Because of the large file size, you may be dealing with DV-AVI (which is my suspicion) or an uncompressed AVI format. Or... it could be Divx / Xvid avi encoded at an excessively high bitrate.

Regardless, equal file size does not mean equal quality because they use vastly different methods of compression.
