  1. I found this site while looking for a way to convert a Divx 4 (OpenDivx) file to a straight AVI file. When I opened the file, I recived a warning from Virtualdub that the file was using a VBR for the audio file and said
"[!] AVI: Variable bitrate (VBR) audio detected. VBR audio in AVI is non-standard and you may encounter sync errors up to 78ms when attempting to extract WAV files or playing in some players. If this is a problem, use Full Processing mode is recommended to decompress or recompress the audio. (This warning can be disabled in Options, Preferences, AVI. bitrate: 128.0 ± 0.5 kbps)"
This was prity straight forward but tried to do as the user in https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/282972-convert-divx-to-avi this link was told to do. True to it's word, it messed up the sync.
Now, on to the question. If I want to convert it still while keeping compression and such. What Settings should I use to do so?
Thanks in advanced for taking time to answer. Never done any really vid editing, so I figured I would ask those in the know rather then spend my short weekend deleting messed up files.

What do you mean by "straight avi" file?

An avi can contain different video codecs and audio codecs.

A DivX file IS and AVI file (only the extension has been changed). An AVI file is not necessarily a DivX file.

What do you want to do with it that you can't already do?
