I have encoded many files in virtualdub without any problems. But now virtualdub has started to crash. After a while the encoding just stops. The video rendering rate drops to 0 fps. When I exit the program after this has happened this error message is shown:

An out-of-bounds memory access (access violation) occurred in module 'xvidvfw'.

I have tried other video compressions and audio compressions and I have tried to re-download virtualdub.

    Input file:
    Codec: Xvid
    Audio: 5.1 AC3
    Size: 698mb
    Picture size: 640 x 256

    Out file:
    Codec: Divx 5
    Audio: MP3 128kbits/s 48000hz
    Textsub video filter added

    Thanks in advance!

  2. If this is happening on one particular file, and always at the same place, you probably have a corrupt source.

  3. Or a corrupt xvid codec.

  5. You can try DivFix but I doubt it will help.

If you can figure out where the bad frame is you can trim in VirtuaDub to avoid the bad section. Save in two parts.

    I got another problem too...
When I try to open a mpeg file in vdub this error message pops-up:

"No video frames in MPEG file"

But the movie works great to watch in vlc or wmp...

I have Downloaded virtualdubmod and tried to open the mpeg but then I get this error:

"MPEG Inport Filter: Pack synchronization error"

Do I need any plug-ins or something??

    The File is mpeg-2

No plugin needed. Seems you mpg is somehow broken. Try a fast remultiplex with TMPGEnc

    1) Streams -> Stream List
    2) Right click on the stream you want select items from menu.

In VirtualDub (not mod) just change audio to "Full processing mode", set codec under "Compression..."
In mod, there's something under stream list I think.
