I used to use ColorTools 1.4 in Virtualdub a lot and it worked great.

I now use Vista Business, with VirtualDub 1.7.7 (stable) and Color Tools 1.4 and when I load it, then click OK to go back to VD for preview it crashes.

I tried it with VirtualDubMPeg2 1.6.19 and same results.

    Any thoughts?

Before you switched to Vista, Which version of Vdub did you use? 1.7.7 or a previous version?

I'm still unclear about ColorTools 1.4. When I do a search, that only seems relate to be a beta version of a program that's used for color conversions and doesn't say anything much about video. Is this the program you are using?: http://rubyforge.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=19427

If not, do you have a link? The very latest versions of VD are also beta, so some problems would be expected and not necessarily Vista related.

I dontloaded it a long time ago.

You can grab it off my server. I'll take it down if anyone knows of a reason not too or objects. As far as I know it is free.

I couldn't get it to run either without crashing VD in Vista after coming back from a preview. I suspect it's something in the video handling of the plugin that Vista doesn't like. Doesn't make any difference running VD in XP Compatibility mode either.

But it does run in my XP Pro computer with no problems. It didn't seem to do anything with my sample video , though. But I'm not familiar with what it's supposed to do. There may be other filters out there that do similar, but don't crash in Vista.

This is my third attempt at getting along with Vista.

I can get it running pretty darn fast and smooth. BUT, once I start adding my video editing programs and codecs it falls to pieces. Constant rundll errors, explorer.exe crashing. right clicking on a video causes explorer to stop responding. etc, etc.

I went back to XP, SP3 with the Vista Transformation Pack 8 and it flies. And all my Virtualdub filters work.

Colortools happy once again. Using XP with Vista Transformation Pack 8 and no 3rd party addons.

Get the look and feel of Vista but the speed and reliability of XP.

  11. Has anyone figured out a fix to this? The guy offers the source code http://trevlac.us/colorCorrection/clrtools.ace for it, so if you can find the bug and recompile, please post a download link to your copy of your fixed compiled version.
