If the default streams are Japanese audio and English subs then it should just convert that way as that is the way that directshow would render it when you opened it with TMPGEnc.

There really isn't a way to do it without frameserving through VirtualDubMod. There are guides here that show you how to do it, but basically you need to go into the Streams list on VDM for that file and rip the audio and subtitle streams, then frameserve it back to TMPGEnc. If you have any questions about how this is done, after you look at the guides, just ask.

  5. well, i did it before so i was just wondering if someone here knows how to without using virtualdub. also, anyone know how to keep the settings on ogg the same (keep japanese sound and english subtitles on everytime you watch an ogg file).

Well the only ogm that I have on hand has only one audio stream and no subs. It converts fine simply by loading directly with TMPGEnc and converting.

If it plays with subs then it should also convert with them as it should be being loaded via dshow.

VDub? How are you getting it in? Or you mean VDubMod? For VdubMod it doesn't load via dshow.

Also plays how? Players with built in filters/decoders don't count as they won't be used outside of the program.

Hmm, seems that although autoDVOBSub (VSFilter) loads fine the subs don't always show up. Guess it would be more reliable to extract the subs and use it as an AVISynth plugin. DVobsub works fine with wmp, graphedit, etc. though.

Also ffdshow kinda works, it would need to be something that it supports decoding though as RAW video doesn't seem to work iwth TMPGEnc, although once again it works fine with graphedit, wmp, etc.

  13. yes, vdubmod.

i play it using wmp. also, on the settings for ogg splitter, am i supposed to check the box that says enable all streams? when i do that, the ogms i open up dont play automatically, but instead, i have to switch the audio to english and back to japanese for it to start playing. i now have unchecked the enable all streams box, and now it plays automatically with japanese audio, but no subs until i turn it on.

anyway to keep the setting permanent (jap audio with eng subs)?

I was using Gabest's splitter and not Tobias' one. Also my test file had only one audio stream and one sub stream.
