    Hello everybody.

    I've tried using TMPGEnc Xpress (version 4) to re-compress an AVI (XviD) file with permanent subtitles. Well, I ran into two problems;

    1. When I chose to use the XviD codec, I configured it so it'd use the two-pass mode. Once the first pass was done, I couldn't fine the stats file created, and neither could the program -- so all I got was an error. No go.

    2. After the two-pass mode being a failure (this time, at least), I chose the single-pass mode.

    Luckily, the single-pass worked... though not exactly. It seems TMPGenc had a problem handling the audio, probably because it's VBR MP3. On a side-note, I chose the "Advanced Acoustic Engine MP3 encoder" as the audio encoder.

    So, let me say I'm sorry if this isn't the right forum -- if not then just move it where it belongs. Anyway, could anyone tell me how I should handle the VBR MP3 audio track? Also, should I be aware of any settings TMPGEnc Xpress uses on default? And last, is there any useful guide or tutorial to teach me how to efficiently (re)compress (to...) XviD files?

    Thanks in advance...

    P.S
    I guess there shouldn't be any issues with the subs, since they're kinda... "automatically" added through VSFilter, at least from what I gathered.

    AutoGK handles some mp3 vbr and can reconvert with subtiles, https://forum.videohelp.com/topic316471.html

    Or if you want to use xpress you can extract the vbr mp3 to wav with virtualdub.
