Does Sony DAV –SB 100 home theatre system plays VCD s ?

Hi all.

Recently I bought a Sony home theatre system ( DAV –SB 100) and found out that this unit doesn’t play most of my VCDs ( so far was successful on one only that I bought here in America, Those VCDs from Europe I can see the first frame from the move and than I am getting blank black screen with audio only. Am I doing something wrong or simply it’s not compatible with VCDs. It’s strange that in documentation it says it plays VCDs. Some advice or hint would be very helpful and appreciated.
Just forgot to say that I have watched all these movies

Funnily enough, I know someone who has bought one of these and it does not play the DVD-R that I lent him even though it should.

Three weeks ago I bought a Sony DAV-SB 100 from Pixmania.
Everything is working fine. It is playing all of my VCDs and SVCDs ...
I'm using Octron DVD-R and Nero to burn them.
