Boy was I pissed off this morning. Still am, but feel better for it.

I get to work after my son was being cranky, kicked me in the face as I put him in the car seat and slapped me in the face and scratched my right ear as I was taking him back out at his day-sitter's house. I alswo noticed a low tire with a nail in it and stopped to get air. So I'm really cranky and pissed of as I get to work, LATE!

As I pull in, an H2 pull diagonally into the left 2 parking spaces with the passenger door about 10 inches from my door. Normally I wouldn't have made a comment and possibly keyed his car and moved mine to a different spot for a week since the guy was obviously just a client to another area in the building. Being very slim, I squeezed out my door intentionally making a forced push against his H2 and said, "Nice parking job. Might have been better if you were sober."

The guy turns and says, "Smart a**, I don't drink."

"I reply, "Oh, Handicapped parking is in the front by the doors." I hear him mumble out loud "a**hole" to which I replied, "The doctor on the 3rd floor can get that taste out of your mouth."

The guy stops and says, "What's your problem?" And I tell him I just get pissed off at jerks who see someone getting out of a car and purposely take up 2 spaces with their fat a** car and intentionally be rude. I proceed to tell him, he deserves to be insulted and treated like s**t. If he didn't like it then he should shoot his ego in the head, find his own head in his a**, and try cleaning the s**t out of his eyes and see what a bit of courtesy does.

I think the guy didn't trust me, so got back to his H2 and moved into a remote corner of the lot. A co-worker of mine saw the whole thing and died laughing. She said I could have 1 of her 2 parking spots in the garage for a month and handed me her 2nd vehicle's tag. So I moved my car into the garage which has cameras and constant walking security and only employees can park there. I saw the H2 in the remote spot of the parking lot and walked over to the vehicle. A garage wall blocks it and there aren't cameras that face that area so I took the opportunity to place a couple of tiny pebbles under 2 valve stem caps. Front left & right rear. I also keyed the right rear quarter panel. Not bad, but enough that it won't be notice well until he gets a car wash.

Again, normally I wouldn't have done anything near this extreme, but today I was pissed. There were several other events that lead up to this moment, but the morning was so good until after my wife left. We'll see what happens as the day and the next 2 weeks roll on.

Why did you key his car even if he moved it?

I was already there deflating his tires. Actually, I was looking for the pebbles and didn't find them at first so I keyed it and then found the pebbles. The mark is only about 3" long, if that.

I know. And normally I wouldn't have. I had a weak moment and I let rage take the toll. I would have done something to the guys car if he hadn't move it, but I think he was scared I was going to do something to his car. Can't say I blame him. I'm also sick and tired of people parking so close to peoples cars that the person can't get in or out, yet they're taking up 2 1/3 spaces. Especially while I'm still in the car and parked there first. Honestly, I wanted a reason to kick his a**, but I held that back as it is. I know the guy isn't a regular to the place because the area where he parked is alos an area where many vehicles get broken into or gang tagged, just because it's out of sight. Maybe they'll cover up the scratch for me.

your a twat. not only do you mess someones car up when they are not around like a coward (as previously said), but it was you who started with the attitude. ok, so it was his bad parking, but you over-reacted and started the verbal abbuse,

where is this ego you claim he has? just cos he has a big car- maybe he wants to be safe? maybe he had other things on his mind when he parked.

i think you were trying to act hard in front of that female co-worker, but you were obviously too scared to key his car in front of the guy, or just leave things after the argument like u should have done

Yeah, I agree. You started giving this guy an attitude first, did you think he was gonna be nice to you after that? Maybe he didn't realize he was too close? Everyone makes mistakes. Why didn't you ask him to please move his car first? Personally, I wouldn't blame the guy if he hires some goons to come to the parking lot the next day and beat the pulp out of you.

  10. Hey, Northie,

Wasn't it you that went to the fair and took the tires off a pickup when they parked too close you after a rough day??

I'm not saying it's the same as keying a car -- this thread just reminded me of that and it was friggin hilarious !! No damage to the vehicle -- but I would have liked to be there and see the look on the guy's face when he saw it and realized he had some work to do!!!

I'll add your story to my long list of reasons not to have kids.

One more thing, I keep an air pump in my car, and when I get nails in my tires, I remove the wheel, take it inside and fix it myself. No need to spend $20 to have it repaired when the repair kit costs about $5.

Now that I've read the whole thing, I think you were way out of line. My reasoning being that he did move his vehicle and he knows what you look like and where you work. Duh.

You know what, I admit it. I acted like a dick and I'm taking my medicine for it. I don't think the name calling now is called for as the incident has already happened. However, there was a bit more that was said and exchanged than I completely stated. The guy made some rude comments about lesser vehicle and how he takes pride in his like it's his idol. Again, I was pretty late as it is for work and we were out in the lot for a while. I didn't know the co-worker was there and she showed up for the latter half of it and sided with me over the whole ordeal.

Was it wrong? yes. Would I recommend the action to anyone else? no. Do I feel guilt about what I did? yes. Do I feel I was a coward? never. Had he not moved, I would have still placed pebbles in his valve caps. No damage would have been done. In fact I opened my door into his vehicle while he was right there. He even knew he blocked me and didn't move initially. It's about lunch so I'll go down and post an apology note along with an orange 'WARNING - Or vehicle will be towed sticker' as he was still parked oddly in the spaces. There's been a lot of complaints about people not properly parking by several workers here and I just found out that we can get the stickers from the manager's office. If I'd have known that sooner, I would have done that instead.

I don't know doramius. You seem like a cool guy and all but the more I think about it, the more I realize this has to be one of the more assholish things I have heard recently. I just hate it when parents feel they are entitled to be ******** because they have young children. And I despise people with attitudes. It's a good thing you feel guilty because you were in the wrong. A simple "can you please move your car" is enough no matter what the situation is. Take it from there if you have to but don't start with an attitude. Hopefully everything will turn out well, but you do deserve to get fired for this shit.

Anyway, don't take offense doramius. I'm glad you decided to "confess". I wish you luck with your anger management problem. :P

a sticker on the windshield is one thing (and pretty common in some places like montreal) , but letting the air out is childish and could be dangerous to someone ...

keying is property destruction and as such - should be charged IMO ...

I'm definitely agreeing with the mass in that keying was not the correct action but... I liked his dialog towards the other driver. Sometimes you need a little more satisfaction than "can you please move your car"

There is nothing satisfying about dishing out cliche-sounding "disses" like a gum-chewing Puerto Rican girl from the projects.

If the guy didn't move his car after the "can you please move your car" then doramius has every right to start being rude, but he just started with an attitude immedietly not even giving the guy a chance.

I had a girlfriend once who's ex at the time decided to deflate one of my rear tires. He unfortunately evaded the cameras and the officer at my high school(this was 3 years ago) said there wasn't anything they could do since he wasn't on camera. On top of which it was the middle of winter and blowing snow out. Wha't worse is that he didn't just deflate my tire but actually used a knife and cut it. 3 hours of time wasted but fortunately firestone gave me a new tire at no cost. Bottom line is I didn't like it being done to me so I know I wouldn't have done what you did Doramius. I like you man but I think that was a bit too far in my opinion.

@888888: Point taken - you're right. I guess I've just been in to many situations where the 'other guy' starts with attitude. I also may have stereotyped what the driver of an H2 would be like...

So I'm parking my H2 in the lot today and all of a sudden...

I'd have keyed his car while he was standing there, stuffed a couple hundreds down the back of my pants and wiped my ass with them, then stuffed them in his hand. Beyond that, I don't really agree with any mechanical adjustments that could endanger people other than the person who pissed you off.
