Really! What's the point? I still haven't figured out what's going on lately. What's with all the locking of threads? I guess I can understand locking a thread if the originator asks for it, but at the same time, doesn't that make the forum their own private soapbox? "I've said what I wanted to say, now lock this thread since I really don't care about anybody's responses". Example being bazooka's employer rant. What, noone else is allowed to join the discussion or voice their opinion of employers?

What about all the one's that should have been locked and never were? C'mon, just how many "Would you date a...." threads did we need? Ok, fine. If you're going to do it, do it right. Here's a list of good candidates for locking:

    NFL 2004 - It's 2005, it's time is past.
Calypso Not My Real Name - We know what your name is now.
I don't give a flip who calypso is. - Now you know. Flip off.
I Can't Bekieve It's 2005 - You've had almost three weeks to get used to it.
Star Wars Sucks - We all know that!
Recipes I Don't Want To Eat - Then you don't need the recipe.
Final T-Shirt Vote - I believe we will see Video Friends Episode 2 the same day as the t-shirts, so....
VideoFriends Episode 2 - Not likely in this lifetime.

So, keeping with the current spirit, I really don't care how anyone else feels about this, and I've had my say, so please feel free to lock this thread too!

Actually it's still part of the same season - it's currently the playoffs. I didn't want to start a new thread just for the playoffs. But I'll update the title for you

The shut up a newbie thread was being misconstrued.

The employer thread was moot because I heard from him.

I apologize if you got offended.

It was not about not caring about other's responses.

Most things in OT are (on purpose too)!

The employer thread was moot because I heard from him.
It was just an example. Probably some good life left in that thread though.

Sorry you didn't get good news.

I apologize if you got offended.
    No need, I wasn't.

I agree! So what's the point of locking the good threads and leaving the crap ones open?

I should have updated the employer thread before asking for it to be locked.

He told me to check back with him in a couple of days.

In light of an image I posted being pulled down for being "inappropriate", I have to mention that I browsed back to March-April 2004 for OT last night and found some images that would surely be considered bannable offences these days. One that I recall vividly was a bloke's meat n two veg with a tattoo covering the entire tacklebox. If they're getting removed now, should they be removed from all the old posts too ? Browsing back through old posts gives the impression of what is allowable and what isn't IMO.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I would have to concur that some threads have been locked that I would have left running. PMing the mods in question to give your opinions are always welcomed.

You forgot the "clean-up" here in OT in the Aug - Sept. timeframe. The policy in OT changed regarding inappropriate material, thread topics, one-word or no-word PW posts, etc.

But the pic you posted today wouldn't have been allowed even pre-clean-up. Full frontal nudity has never been considered "appropriate" here and if it didn't get pulled, it was probably because it slipped through the cracks (no pun intended)

I'm not starting shit because I can, I genuinely feel a bit aggrieved ...

Cap, I've got a pic (two, in fact, now that I think about it) that I found that make a complete nonsense of everything you just said

Also, I don't recall reading any rules regarding one word or no word posts. I know about them ebcause I was here, but others who are new to the scene may not if it's not in writing
    If in doubt, Google it.

I didn't see that part. But anyway, it still a valid rant in general.

I don't care about anecdotal evidence that the rules aren't enforced 100% That's never a valid argument. Never was.

Try arguing a traffic ticket by saying "everybody else was speeding too, officer" :P

If the post or link breaks the rules, and a mod sees it, it will be pulled. If the poster continues, cards will be issued for it.

Why are you so indignant that that pic was pulled? Did you really think that picture was appropriate here?

Speeding is against the rules, but these rules are quite easy to be found

Please show me where, in writing, where one word or no word posts form part of the rules ?

I don't see it in the AUP or Off Topic Rules sticky
    If in doubt, Google it.

    It's in the main rules:
All disputes that arise from conflicts or vagueness in the AUP are to be decided soley by the webmasters or their moderators
The one-word posts were considered blatant post-whoring and demeaning to the forum.

tekkie, I believe that the shift change from the "glory days" of OT is largely to do with personnel - indolikaa, teegee420 and Will Hay are just a couple off the top that were IMO instrumental in creating OT atmosphere.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Where do you draw the line with the one word or no word posts though?

    Sometimes people respond with smileys.

Some of my posts are one worders like when MackemX was wanting confirmation on how many windows I had open and I said yep.

At that rate, I will soon be banned.

It's not one-word posts. It's posting 7 or 8 posts ..each having one word of the sentence. There was some of that yesterday and I think a couple yellow cards were issued for it.
