Just came out of a long and painful format of HD. (MBR crashed beyond repair). So having a nice clean system now, am trying to avoid putting as much stuff (codecs and such) on my system. Also am not a big fan of Divx 5.xxx. In the last year or so I have converted almost all my videos to .ogm using xvid.
I have a few left overs from older codecs such as div3, now of-course they wont play because I don't have that codec loaded.(I would like notto)
The question I have is there some way, such as a registry tweak or a change of the fourcc that I can get xvid to decode div3?
any help or a point in the right direction would be a tremendous help
    A million thanks

If you just wanted to play Divx3, you could try VLC Media Player. It uses it's own codecs, so you wouldn't have to load any.

DivX 3 isn't MPEG4, as such XviD can't decode it. ffdshow and 3ivX both can though. Think that NeroDigital can to. Guess you could use the modifed version of ffmpeg to convert (not re-encode) to MPEG4, then XviD would work.
