  1. I am attempting to convert a Divx file to DVD, so I am using Virtualdub to extract the audio as wave and then convert that to AC-3 using Besweet. But Virtualdub gives me an error message that says "No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format." When I check under File Information it states the following for the audio:

    Sampling rate: 22050Hz
    Channels: 2 (Stereo)
    Sample precision: N/A
    Compression: Unknown (tag 0055)
    Layout: 284 chuncks (0.50s preload)
    Length: 47704052 samples (1:06:15.33)
    Min/avg/max/total frame size: 400/420/6000 (117K)
Data rate: 96 kbps (5.40% overhead)

I went on the web and downloaded an audio codec that listed for compression "unknonw (tag 55)", but I still get the error message in Virtualdub. I would appreciate any help that can be offered to get me past this problem.

  2. I'm still interested in what people might have to say, but it appears that I may have solved the problem. I loaded the .avi file in Goldwave and save the audio as wave and am now in the process of converting it to AC-3 in Besweet. I wonder why Goldwave was able to do this but not Virtualdub, especially since the latter has never given me this problem before during multiple conversions.

  3. I get that message a lot when trying to play AVI files with MPEG 1 Layer 3 audio (0055) with VirtualDubMpeg. All I have to do is press play a second time and it works fine after that.
