  1. I have a Creative Zen 30GB, which sounds like a lot of space but still it seems to fill up quickly.

I wish to take a bunch of videos like 40+, and either run them in VirtualDub or other good program to try and reduce the quality within reason just for putting on the Zen.

I tried VirtaulDub's job manager but it like open file after file and go to file - save avi - add to batch. It seems this way if one job messes up, I can't see the exact error why, and I gotta almost start over again.

Is there a way in VirtualDub or any other program that would work for this, to just select a whole bunch of files, and just convert them all the same way or in a similar manner?

Winmenc will do a very good (and easy) batch conversion job.

  3. Thanks, that's a neat program. I tried MEncoder on Linux before but never really got the hang of it, same with transcoder. I think I'm now going to study them again. I like to know how to do things in both Linux/UNIX and Windows.

Is it just me or can video editing become very addicting? To me it just seems fun with all of the different things that you can do with your videos.

Video editing reminds me of Linux/UNIX, where you have dozens upon dozens of choices and many of the options are actually free and because a fair amount of options are actually open-source.
