On my old G3 powerPc i could just open the side and clean out any dust that collected in it. I now have a G4 IMac and i dont see how i can clean any dust out that has built up in the past year.

My IMac is the model with the half circle base and chrome arm that holds the monitor.

Has anybody done this to their IMac?

Mark, whatever you use to clean your iMac, never use a vacuum cleaner. It builds a static charge and can easly render your mother board DOA. Use only air from a can. You can buy this in any electronics store.
    Good cleaning!

If you have to ask that question, you should leave it alone. If you don't own pets, even less of a need to clean.

There has got to be some web pages which show you how to open that iMac, i know because my father used one to find out how to open and replace optical drive in the older imacs. One thing you could try is Apples new WEB CHAT SUPPORT

Go this this page and click on the which says "Chat with a Support Agent. Apple is testing a new chat-based support service that’s available to iMac customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you need help, give it a try and tell us what you think."
then you can ask them how you clean it out
