I have an imac G4 and I'm having problems with the sound. I just bought some Round Powermac M6531 Pro G4 speakers and no sound comes out of the speakers. I used to have some Logitech external speakers I hooked up to the headphones port and the sound worked fine. But the speakers were old, so I got the new Pros. The sound always came out of the logitechs through the headphones, but now nothing through the Pros. In system pref under sound in output it's showing external speakers just the headphones and it's the only option that's available. I tried to reset the pram but nothing and I reset the PMU and still no sound. Any suggestions??!! I really don't want to have to resend the speakers to ebay. Please help...I'm desparate! Thank you in advance.

The speakers require a power source that only certain older Macs provided. You may need a special power adapter. See this thread:
