Burning avi video to DVD+R w/NeroVision Express 3, , hit the "BURN" button and got:
Not enough space for temporary files in the selected folder 'C:\DOCUME~1.\OWNER~1.LIS\LOCALS~1\TEMP. There are 4070 MB available, but the recording process will need approximately 4385.
I've used the "SEARCH" option but cannot find this folder. Any thoughts, suggestions, or feedback.
Thanks.

Try c:\Documents and Settings\{name of account you are using}\local settings\temp.
In fact, do a properties on the c:\ drive and you will probably find you are running short of space overall.
Look in the directory above, as well as c:\windows\temp (assumes c: is your boot drive) and delete everything you can.Read my blog here.

Install this http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4191.html
Run it
It will clear your temp folder of junk. -
You can clean out a lot of Windows junk by clicking start>accessories>system tools>disk cleanup. If you never ran it before it will take hours to complete mostly because it compresses old files and that takes a while.
How much space do you have when you right click and select properties on the drive in My Computer? -

You need more room than what you have. Time to get another HD.
-
You Dont have enough space on your HD.
NVE3 tell you this
There are 4070 MB available, but the recording process will need approximately 4385.
You need to make space. -
You really should get a larger drive if your going to be doing any amount of video. If that's not an option let me know and I'll give you some more info on cleaning it out.

Also, YES any advice/assistance in cleaning my computer would be GREATLY appreciated. -

That's only if your using the classic interface. Most comps ship with the XP one.

Well to start out with do what I suggested above if you haven't already done so. This can take quite a while.
clicking start>program files>accessories>system tools>disk cleanup.... put a check next everthing and remove it.
Next go to start>control panel>add remove programs. Remove anything from the list you don't use. After your done with the installed apps click the button to the left labled add/remove windows components. Uncheck anything you don't use, if there's a checkbox that is greyed with a checkmark highlight it and click details...
Open up Internet Explorer and from the top select tools>internet options click the settings tab and adjust the "amount of disk space to use slider" to about 200-400 mb's or so.
Next start>control panel>administrative tools>services...find indexing service in the list and double click it. Click the stop button then from the drop down menu select disabled. While your in there find Messenger and disable that too if its enabled just for kicks, note that the messenger in this list is not MSN Instant messaging service.
Next go My Computer and double click C drive..... windows>temp> and delete anything that you find in there. You can leave the cookie and temp. internet fiolders alone.
Go to start>find.... in the find files text box type "*.tmp" without the quotes and click search. Delete any files it finds.
Reboot each and evertime it asks you too.....
Next click start>control panel>system>system restore> and move the slider so your using about 300mb for sytem restore. Note: this will reduce how far you will be able to go back for restore points,
Restore eats up a lot of space. Me personally I have it turned off. What you can do is make sure it's on when your going to install stuff..... as long as everthing works fine for a week or so turn it back off.
Last but not least go to start>program>files>accessories>system tools>disk defragmenter and defragment your drive. note:this can take a long time
When your done give us some results on how much space you got back. -
an easy way to get to the temporary folder on a Windows XP machine: Open Windows Explorer (not Internet explorer) and in the address bar type
%temp%
and press the [enter] key. It should take you right to
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\local settings\temp
For some info on what you can delete to free space, see annoyances.org.
I would really recommend adding a new Hard Drive. Keep in mind, that if you have an older system, it may not be capable of recognizing the full capacity of newer hard drives. There are ways to work around such limitations though. You should be able to get a 40-80GB drive for $40-50 (staples, office max, curcuit city, etc. often have rebates). Some people say dog is mans best friend. I say that man is dog's best slave... At least that is what my dogs think. -

***Do this on a regular basis.
Next go to start>control panel>add remove programs. Remove anything from the list you don't use.

***THIS I've never done. So if I uncheck "MSN Explorer 20.7 MB" do I lose those MB (which would be good)? Also, some are checked but have 0 MB. Does it benefit me to lose those as well?
Open up Internet Explorer and from the top select tools>internet options click the settings tab and adjust the "amount of disk space to use slider" to about 200-400 mb's or so.
***Do you have an exact number here or does it not matter?

***Both Services AND Messenger were already disabled.

***Was already empty.
Go to start>find.... in the find files text box type "*.tmp" without the quotes and click search. Delete any files it finds.
***Should I look in "My Computer", "Drives C&D", etc.?
Reboot each and evertime it asks you too.....
***Will this promt be a result of deleting my Search results?
Next click start>control panel>system>system restore> and move the slider so your using about 300mb for sytem restore. Note: this will reduce how far you will be able to go back for restore points,
***Lowest options are 200mb and 360mb. Can I assume the latter?

Your optimum solution (and the one I use) is to put in a second hard disc to keep temporary or secondary files upon, and use that for storing data to make discs. I have four partitions on my hard drives. The first drive contains C: and the Linux mount points. The second contains D: and E:. E: is where I keep all the disc images for burning. This allows great flexibility when it comes to cleaning up the discs, too.

I also have an S: drive but this is the C: drive on my daughters computer which hangs on the other end of a network. But that's another story entirely! -

There is one last simple thing I forgot. If your using Outlook Express open it up and on the top got to tools>options>maintenance..... put a check next to "Empty messages from the "deleted folder" on exit" This will automatically delete the e-mails that you have deleted from your inbox. Of course if you want to keep them don't do this. You can also click on the send tab and uncheck "Save a copy of sent messages....." If you have a lot of e-mails with images attache this will free up a lot of space.
Personally I have mine set to "delete form the deleted box" and I manually go select older messages from the "sent" box ocassionally to delete them.
You can delete a whole batch of them easily, click "Sent Items".....click received at the top to sort them by date. Make sure the oldes date is at the top, if it's the newest date click it again. Click the top message, scroll down to where you want to delete to and click that message while pressing the shift key. Right click the highlighted messages and select delete.
There is other stuff you can remove, do a google search.
Best hing to do though is just get another drive, they do make external ones..... -
I did *not* mean just add a D: drive. Just because it is another letter does not mean it is another hard disk. I meant adding a separate, second physical hard disk. The larger the better, obviously. I have two that are 120GB a piece, but I find that I only use small fractions of most of the partitions I created, for the most part. The partition I created on the second hard disk to store ISO image files is the only one that gets full with any regularity.
