error msg when try to record on drw-500

• Hey, all, my first post. After running through all the settings, etc. I try to record on drw-500, it starts rec., then indicates "disc error closing". I'm using Imation cd+RW's, 4x, 2 hrs. In setup, I have set it for "SP".
  when it tries to record, Makes about three attempts, then freezes, REC light stays on. only way I can unfreeze is to power down at elect. outlet. Any ideas?

The SP setting to get a 2 hour recording is for DVD media (DVD+RW or DVD+R).

Assuming you are using the Sanyo DRW-500.

I appears to me then that the setting "SP" Would be correct for my dvd+RW's, which are 4x, 2hours.
Right?

Also, I called Sanyo customer service today, and after asking a couple of questions, i.e. am I using dvd+rw's,
she said it sounds like something where I would need to send to the factory for repair.

please, any other thoughts or suggestions?
