Is it true that a dvd ram can not be played back on an ordinary dvd home player? I bought a home burner (panny e55) and the dvd ram discs dont seem to playback on a regular dvd player.
Also Panasonic told me you can not name chapters. Does this sound right?
Thanks Bob

They play on my Panasonic dvd player (S35) which states that it plays them in its manual. Doesn't play cartridges

RAM doesn't make chapters like DVD-R does when finalized. If you want chapters make play lists, you can name them and they take very little disc space. I think all new Panasonic players are RAM capable.

Does anyone know if you can name chapters on a regular dvd-r with a panasonic home dvdr player e55? Thanks

You can do it on any of their players I believe. You just make a Play List. A play list is a list of stuff you want to play in the order you want it to play. Not exactly chapters I know, but function like them.

Play lists are for DVD-RAM, they don't work on DVD-R. No you can't name or make your own chapters with DVD-R. The machine makes chapters about every 5 minutes or so when the disc is finalized. You need to use RAM for stuff like that.
