  1. I bought I/O magic double layer DVD 16x burner on Black Friday.
    I wanted to upgrade the firmware. How can I know the burner is BTC or Benq? then I can select the correct version firmware.

    Try using this, it will show you the Drive info. Got it from pioneer's webpage.

    deviceinfo.exe


    Mods please remove if needed.

    Nope, that won't work. The I/O Magic gets listed as atapi dvd dd 2x16x4x16. The easiest way is by the firmware rev. The BenQ OEM firmware is lised as G7K9 or something similar.

    What's the meaning of "firmware rev."? How to find it?

    Find DVDInfoPro in the tools section or just click on the name in this post. Install and run. It will give the the firmware revision of your drive.
