  2. .OGM files are just like .AVI files. AVI stands for Audio Video Interleave - it is a "container" format. This means that you can choose your own type of video compression and your own type of audio compression and bring it together in one file. You will find that your .OGM file has Vorbis audio and XviD video - open it with GSpot and you'll see.

Since it is already in an AVI-type format, there isn't much point in converting it again. However, if you wanted it as a proper .AVI then you could use VirtualDub to extract the video (Select Direct Stream Copy for Video, disable processing in Audio and "Save as AVI"), then extract the sound as a WAV and use VirtualDub to put the new audio stream and the video back together.

As I say, there really isn't much point. Are you having problems playing the file?

producer as far as I know uses directshow for input. So an ogm should work just as well as an avi as input.

An ogm doesn't have to use vorbis audio by the way.

    Could try:
    mencoder.exe -oac pcm -ovc copy input.ogm -o output.avi
or avi audio decompressor, which will do basically the same thing; direct stream the video, decode the audio to pcm and remux to avi.

One issue would be if there were multiple audio streams. With mencoder you can use -aid # to specify the stream that you want.

I used dvd santa to go from .ogm to mpeg2 and burned to dvd, GREAT quality actually, no problems at all with sound or video.... I put it on medium resolution and full screen, and it comes out looking like widerscreen, and looks pretty damned good on the tv! I'm pleased with it that way myself. goodluck. ( I know you said to .avi but I figured i'd throw this in.. )
