  1. codec codec codec , your prob right but i cant get this thing to work at the mo

avi file > tmpgenc express > no audio when playback

checked the avi with avi codec > eaccess violation?
checked with gspot > all seems ok ?

get the inproper vbr at load with vdub
tried to demux with vdub > get broken playback when re-muxed

loads in nan dub with no errors
tried to save as avi using direct stream for vid and aud in nandub , still no audio on new saved avi in tmpgenc express

used avfree codec vt and it played ok in the preview player

my other players play it ok

just cant get sound in tmpgenc express

and have uninstalled and re-installed my codec with a fresh one

the codec in question is MPEG-1 Layer 3 i have 4 codecs installed that will play the file , frauhoffer , creative , lame mp3 0.8.0 3.92 , mpeg layer 3 decoder

any one got any thoughts please

TMPGEnc doesn't like VBR audio. Demux it and feed it the individual streams. Rip the audio in VirtualDub - save it as a WAV and feed that to TMPGEnc instead.

    The sacman is right.

Feed tmpg the wav file instead.

    You do not demux.

You set audio for full processing and save the audio as a wave file.

Scan it for bad frames maybe? <shrug>

Where did you get this file? Is it something you downloaded? Good luck with it if that's the case

  7. oops sorry guys my terminology slip up

tried saving audio seperate as wav and get broken playback and out of sync issues when re-joined back in with express

i`m looking at uninstalling the lame codec at the mo and changing to 3.69

maybe that will do it ?

What do you mean by "broken playback"? Is it just lagging on your system with the video or is it actually missing sections of audio? How does the WAV file itself play?

  9. ok back again after a reboot

doh and double doh that didnt fix it still no audio in tmpgenc

ok i loaded the file into vub and got the inproper vbr warning it asked to re-write header or something like that i said no , i then saved the audio as a wav and the only mode i can see is under video there are no mode options under audio , so i saved the file as a wav , streams>stream list , save as wav

then loaded it in express with the orig vid file and playback was there but had short broken bits in it and went out of sync further down the file ?

    First things first...

In virtual dub, you need to select audio full processing mode.

You can also check to see if audio is 44,100hz and it is set to stereo.

You then save the audio as a wav in virtualdub. You should also scan for bad frames.

You then load both the original video +the wav you just saved into tmpg.

Let it fix the header and then save the WAV and see how that goes.

    Use virtualdub 1.5.10

Where did you get the source file?

If you downloaded it, then you need to get a different copy.
