    I just installed the NEC and put in an 8x ridata. Using Nero 6.6 and it says its burning at 8x and the total time should take 7min. After its done though...its really takin 14min. Thats how long i was burnin at 4x w/ my last burner. Is there sumting wrong w/ this drive or what? Im using firmware 2.16.

    try posting your problem at the NEC FORUM at cdfreaks.com and check to make sure those 8X RIDATA are actually 8X speed. check to see DMA is enabled.

    i wanted to DL that FW but it said its only for retail versions of the NEC. I bought mine OEM off of newegg...is it still ok?
