problem with apex 660a and pal dvd's

I have the apex 660a and It's been flashed to be region-free years and years ago. I bought the region 2 release of troy on dvd and it says anamorphic widescreen so when watching it on my ntsc with the player it shows widescreen Now my problem is I have the buffy season 7 PAL dvd's and they are supposed to be widescreen but show fullscreen on my tv but not in a software player where they maintain widescreen. any ideas to get my buffy dvd's to play in widescreen ? maybe menu settings or something ? thanks

I have the apex 1500 with the same problem and the only way i could get my anomorphic pal to play in widescreen was to re-encode to ntsc,nothing else i could do in the menu would allow the pal to play widescreen,always played stretched.The easiest fix would be to buy a dvd player that plays the pal properly.
