I had a similar problem. I had been using Nero for over a year without a problem and then suddenly it became very sick. I realized that I had recently upgraded to Windows SP2. So just to see what would happen, I uninstalled Nero and then reinstalled it. I had heard that after SP2 is installed, some applications get sick. After I reinstalled Nero, I had no further problems.

I'd do a search on all forums for power calibration and you'll find 1000's of posts. Normally this error means your burner doesn't like your media.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    your burner's fine - it's your media.
    If in doubt, Google it.

what happens is that on the cheaper discs, the quality control as well as the manufacturing process leave a lot to be desired, so what happens is you can get vast variations from spindle to spindle in terms of the number of usable discs. The difference between manufacturers IMO is the number of coasters per spindle - the good brands contain few if any poorly-manufactured discs, whereas the cheap brands normally have a higher percentage of poor discs. That said, by higher percentage I mean that even the cheapest of cheap media will generally have 95 or more perfectly fine discs in every spindle.

So the cheaper the discs = the more coasters per spindle as a general rule, but YMMV.
    If in doubt, Google it.
