  1. I used Nero 7 to encode and burn .AVI files to DVD.

The first three files burnt onto 1 DVD no problem. In All subsequent attempts using Nero 7 the audio is out of sync with the video by about 5 seconds.

The Audio is early by that amount of time throuought the entire video, for all episodes.

The problem occurs in all DVD players.

When I play the .AVI on my computer as is, the audio is in sync perfectly.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Nero 7 and the same occured.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

Nero often has audio sync issues, especially with, but not limited to, VBR MP3 audio in the source file. You have couple of choices to try to fix it

    1. Demux the audio, convert it to CBR MP3 or uncompressed WAV, then remux it before loading the avi into Nero. There are many posts on this, including a couple of stickies.

    2. Use something else to convert the files - ConvertXtoDVD is generally better at maintaining audio sync than Nero and works with a wider range of file types and combinations. You can still burn with Nero afterwards if you so choose, although I would recommend Imgburn.

  3. Thanks for the advice. I tried ConvertXtoDVD and it worked fine. Must be a Nero-specific problem.

    Appreciated,

No necessarily a Nero specific problem - if the source has VBR MP3 audio then quite a few programs will have issues. VSO has spent a lot of time working on audio sync, but even ConvertXtoDVD can get it wrong. I used it yesterday to convert an MKV file with H.264 video and Vorbis audio. It did a great job with the video, but at different points the audio would slip out of sync, then back in again.

I redid the same file with FAVC using the latest FFDShow, and while it took 4 times as long to process, the results are even better in the video department, and the audio is in perfect sync.

Bottom line - you may find Nero works fine for you 70% of the time, and for the rest there are plenty of other options.

You dragged a three + year old post out of it's grave for that ? The current version of Nero is now 10.x, and everything else has also moved on a long way. And Nero is still a crap solution for this type of conversion, even three years later
