  9. Praise be to Wizard that film rules. I bought that on ntsc about 8 years a go. I am waiting with baited breath for a dvd release. I bought summer school a few months a go. That is another classic 80's but not a patch on Wizard.

Are you kidding? I wouldn't buy a video with low quality picture and sound (and probably the wrong aspect ratio), unless it's something obscure and never released on DVD.

None...why bother unless it is some rare title you can't get otherwise...

And not only that, the last few commercial titles I got "new" on VHS had rather crappy quality compared with some of the VHS titles I've gotten earlier. I have a few titles that I own both the commercial VHS and DVD; the DVD quality is stunning when the two are compared (what an absolutely useless statement for around here). I've bought VHS blanks in the last year to replace the scratch tapes we use to record TV shows. I also backup my analog camcorder footage to VHS "just in case".

Bought a new 4 hour VHS blank tape but not for video to go on it,got my VHS machine set to audio only setting, so up to 8 hours of good HI-FI sound can be recorded, it's in with my HI-FI set up and is not connected to any TV and never will be.

Dude, ever here of MP3??? You can get a cheap mp3 cd player for under $50 US and hook it up to any stereo you want. You can get almost 200 hundered songs on a 700mb disc (more depending on your bitrate).

I've still got about 100 VHS tapes to convert to DVD, then the VHS deck goes to it's proper place in a yard sale along with the 8 track player.

No VHS since 1999. Then I bought a "special edition" thinking it was in widescreen... but no... It was one interview that made it special, WOW!

Hopefully, but I think the General Consumer won't feel comfortable (for some while) buying stuff that doesn't come packaged in/on something physical. Us gear head, we don't mind, and are early adopters, but I think it wont be until our children are The Consumers that video, music, books, magazines etc can be sold (in any significant amount) without a "carrier" (like paper, magnetic tape, CD/DVD, vinyl disc with circular scratches...)
(And then it's on to us - when can we start existing without our physical carriers? )
