and I got to thinking -
Would this improve my overall image quality when I capture from Direct TV? Seems to me it would be better than S-Video and about the same as a progressive scan DVD player but not as good as a HDTV signal, right?
Question for Lord Smurf -
Does ATI MMC control your Direct TV or do you manually change channels?
Could I use an IR blaster unit to allow ATI's MMC to change the channel when it needs to record?
Thanks

I would think that you would need a component input on the dvd recorder. My Panny doesn't have one, but I thought I saw somewhere that the Philips does.

I wanted to capture with an ATI All In Wonder card. I just don't know which model yet until I can come up with a budget. Most likely the AIW 9600XT as I do play some DX8 games and some upcoming DX9 games.
I don't think the "break-out" input dongle that comes with the AIW has compontent in, just out with an adaptor, via one of the VGA/DVI ports.
I think the just annouced AIW X800 will have both compotent in and out dongles that are stackable too.Project Digital: Eliminate All Physical Media is finally underway!
