The shotgun is a very inexpensive New England Arms single-shot 12 ga. We got it for free from TJ's cousin John. I've been taking both my boys to the range starting at age 5. They both know firearm handling and safety like second nature.

The first time we fired that 12 ga. was with rifled slugs. The shotgun is a featherweight, and the recoil was impressive. I think I lost a filling or two that day

The Ruger .22 is a nice little plinking gun - I have a 30-round banana clip for that one too.

I've been following the slow, draconian disarming that has been going on over there and in Oz. But to comment further on that would require a thread over at Politick, and not here
