  1. This is my first time attempting to backup a DVD. When trying to open my DVD in DVD Shrink, it either says, "data error (cyclic redundancy check)" or "sector encrypted" at 10 percent. How can i fix this? thanx.

Have you tried ripping with DVD Decrypter and then using DVD Shrink?

  3. Yea, and it said it would take about 50 some hours. I'm using Smartripper right now and it's also going incredibly slow. I juss checked my ASPI layer and it's all good and updated.

Sounds like the disk is scratched.

... or less likely, badly authored, either on purpose or by accident. See the thread:

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=225012.

There are some good suggestions in the thread as to how to decrypt and copy a DVD with authoring errors.

There is some debate as to whether these types of disks are mis-authored on purpose to improve the weak copy protection.

  10. try cleaning the dvd (of both finger prints and scratches). Toothpaste, automotive polish, Brasso metal polish, etc.
