Noticed newegg has them for about $11 each now. This is a price drop yes? I could have sworn they were like $15+ a week or so ago.

  2. Maybe they are responding to Sony's $10 delivered price. NewEgg is very aware of the market.

Wow I figured sony would go up after that batch/week was up. This is very good news... I'm placing my personal bet on a good time to get a DL burner in Jan/Feb, so far that prediction seems on track. Heck I paid more then that for my first blank single layers in stores.

  4. I found that my 812S burned +R media better with the US0Q firmware as opposed to the VS0A even though they are the same. Go figure. So I am keeping my 812 as a single layer for the time being rather than patching to an 832. Besides, there would have to be a considerable drop to get close to the 35-45 cents I pay for SL media. Not to mention having to go back to 2X speeds as well as what I am sure are higher error rates. It is just too much fun to use Shrink to split it to two discs... makes me feel like a programer or something.

BTW, what model are you holding out for?
