I'm going to be backing up some dvd's, and will be using 4 passes.
How do I know, or how do I set the limit size for the final product? I obviously only want the final file(s) to fit onto one dvd-r. Is there something in the hidden settings that I need the change? or does the program automatically acknoledge that you will be fitting a movie onto a 4.7gig dvd?
Thanks for any help!

the setting is automatically set to 4.38 GB according to dooms9 forum on DVD REBUILDER.

Here's how much space you need:
1. Space enough for a copy of the DVD so you can decode, it up to ~9GB
2. Space enough for the info after the scans, tiny ~70MB
3. If you are using ReJig, space enough to demux the video, up to about ~8GB
4. Another up to ~4GB for the .M2V files created in reencoding.
5. Up to 4.38GB for the output VIDEO_TS directory

Thanks. I thought so.
Do you have any comments on customized settings?
After researching, some guys use the settings:
VBR_Bias - 10
Quality_Prec - 24
VBR_Passes - 3
Where as another guy said this:
Quality_prec set for between 27-30 when avg bitrate >3000
VBR_bias should be set for 40-50% of Qual_Prec level, or... more generally:
movie <2hrs - 23-25
movie>2hrs - 15-23
movie is 3hrs+ - 15-20
I'm all confused with what to check off, and what not too. I.e.. Mpeg2source, should that be checked? As well, I hear different variations of how to cut the extras down in size. Some say 'steal space from extras' and select a percentage, whereas others would suggest using 'Half D1 and Half Space for extras'.. lol which is it!!?
I've read doom-9's guide, it explains each function, but I dont know if I should use half them? -
I use the following:
VBR- 10
QUALITY PREC- 24
VBR PASSES- 2
Are you asking about the MPEG2Dec3dg.dll? Yes it needs to be checked off and make sure you install it correctly. I don't use the D1 HALF or STEAL SPACE options. If this is the first time for you to use DVD REBUILDER just use the default settings. I'd say 4 passes is overkill.
Try it out and see what kind of results you get then later you can change the VBR, QUALITY PREC & VBR PASSES settings. You won't be disappointed with the quality after it's done. Good luck!

Here's an update.
After the first pass the information I got is as followed:
Reduction level for dvd-5: 67.5%
Overall bitrate: 3,417k
Space for video: 3.8gigs
It's currently running the second pass.
What i'm worried about is 'space for video'. I was hoping to fit the most possible data onto the dvd. Will it eventually get larger? Do I have to change and settings for file size limit like others suggested?
This movie did not have any extras on it, so 0% was allocated to that.
Thanks for any help!
