  1. Hi,

I've searched but perhaps I'm using the wrong words. I am trying to extract the background picture/bitmap/jpeg from a DVD so that I can use it on another production. Is there a ripper/decoder that will save the background image used on a DVD menu?

    thanks,

  3. I tried this method, but end up with a d2v file of 0 bytes which I cannot open in tmpgenc. Does anyone use any other software/method that I could try?

    Thanks very much

Play the DVD in Powerdvd. When it goes to the Menu, click on the little camera icon. It will copy the image to the clipboard so that you can paste it in your image editor.

right click the camera icon in PowerDVD and change the settings to save to file (or clipboard) and also by current video window size. Even though most menus are 4:3, if you choose save by original video source size with an anamorphic then the pics are squashed. Also make sure you change the options in the Video (right click in playback window) to keep aspect ratio. ATI is another player that allows snapshots but I'm not sure how it saves them

if nothing else works and as a last resort then depending on your DVD program and codecs you could also use the Print Screen option as sometimes this only creates a black screen

there are other softwares that do this but I'm not sure about any freewares although I know there is one somewhere
