I tried to capture today using WinDV. Every time the scene changed, it would begin a new file. I ended up with hundreds of files from a one hour video. Is there any way to change WinDV to just begin a new file when I hit the esc button or space bar?

Set the field 'Discontinuity Tresshold' to Zero to disable the scene change feature. This will make the capture one single file instead. As far as I know there is no manual way to start a new capture file.
What I do is encode as one big file, and set chapter points before I burn to DVD (I use TMPGEnc DVD Author).
Another cool DV capture utility is Scenalyzer Live, but it s not freeware like WinDV.

Actually I'm looking for the opposite I want to have seperate files for each scene change. What would be the setting change to capture that way.
