I just bought 50 Ridata/Ritek, 50 Ritek and 50 Ricoh discs. Both the Ridata and Ritek discs have scratches on the surface, but the Ricoh discs looks perfect. I also found out that the Ridata didn't looked like they are perfect burn't because the dye looks a bit blotchy. So is this bad Riteks or is this what u can expect from ritek those days?

i just recently bought a test of 2 Ritek G04 DVD-R's b/c my Sandy Yang were not burning right - They were freezing at the end of movies -
the weird thing is some of my sandy yang worked, but most didnt -
the other weird thing is that with me test of 2 ritek's 1 came out perfect and the other didn't - it did the same thing as the sandy yang did - freeze at the end - now i didn't notice the purple smear of dye until after - i'm not sure if that was there before or not - i updated my pioneer 105 firmware, nero software, and dvd shrink - so it can't be that - it has to be the media or my pioneer 105 -
so to answer your question - i'm not sure - maybe it is what to expect now - -

Perhaps the UK are more discerning customers and they know they won't get away with slipping their cast-offs in our general direction... ?
Just a bit off topic, if I had a Sandy Yang I'd probably go and see a doctor... -

Not bothered by small problems...

does any1 know any details about the Ritek that amazon are selling? they're going for 35$ per 50 but I've heard some bad rumours here about them being re-packaged sth...
With all due respect... and there is respect... -
Recently I had bought 100 Ritek and 100 Ridata. Both had loads of coasters (>30/100) :P

Just to add my own $.02 here, a co-worker purchased the 50-pack purple wrapper, branded/arrow logo D2 from newegg, and I split the pack with him. He has burned 8 with no problems on a NEC-2510. I have tried 2 on a NEC-1300a, and both failed to write. I also noticed a small lighter ring a few cms in. (Also, they smell funny!)
So there you have it! What works for some, doesn't work for others. I won't say they're crap, just that they don't work in my burner. While they may cost more, I'll stick to my Sonys, TDKs, Memorex, and Fujis. Never had any trouble with any of those.
When I do, I'll quit buying those too. -
