have you good people had any success with DVD rippers when backing up any
DVD s that has good stereo options, Dts ,5.1 ? I tried with two different
types of software thus far, superdvd ripper and amigo, both have facilities
for copying in 5.1 stereo but when I replay my copies, avi files, they still play in
only two channel stereo?, my digital DVD player and Digital amp..system do
play all the stereo options that are available when playing DVD s,Dts,5.1
etc.,I hope you can help and thanks for reading this.

  2. DVD Shrink will do this and it's free. The latest version not only allows you to select which audio streams to include, but you can also select which stream (5.1, DTS, etc.) will be the default. First, make sure you aren't simply failing to switch to the preferred audio stream (using your remote/set-top dvd player).

I have used dvd decrypter to rip the whole dvd, and then crunch it with clonedvd and have had no problems keeping 5.1 or dts or both.
I'm not sure what you mean by playing avi files on your player.Dvd's are mpeg2,not avi.

That's easy, but you need avimux to put the audio and video back together.
