  1. Hi guys,

Just want to preface by saying that this site is great and all the advice you guys give is very helpful.

Okay, I was trying to edit a Divx file with the Virtualdub program--basically trying to cut a part of the clip. Well, I follow all the directions from one of the guides located on the website and all goes well. The program starts processing the file and on the program's menu, it projects the saved file to be 7GB!!! Is the saved file supposed to be that big? The original video file I was editing is only 10 minutes long and about 100MB.

Is it supposed to be that large or am I doing something wrong? Thanks all for your help.

  2. You must select Video -> Direct stream copy to use the original video. It will limit you to cut only at keyframes, sometimes 10 seconds interval on DivX, to cut more accurate you need to recompress (Full processing mode, then Video -> Compression, select divX. ). Quality loss must be expected.
