I'm assuming it's not a USB mouse which can be a whole other set of problems. One thing you might try is reinstalling the mouse driver. Deleting the device from My Computer / Properties / Devices and rebooting is a possibility. IF it's a Microsoft mouse I would recommend downloading the most recent version of Intellimouse (5.0 I believe) from Microsoft (it's free) and installing it. Should take care of any driver issues

if it's a wireless mouse then your mobile phone or wireless network may be interfering.

It's also possible that something is using up all your resources. My internet PC is only a AMD K6-2 350. It's running eMule all the time, and periodically that program uses 100% of processor time, freezing the mouse cursor for a second or so when this happens. You could have something running doing a similar thing. Just another possibility.

  8. I have the same problem. I am using a Logitech Wireless Optical USB mouse on a WinXP Home OS.
It only seems to happen immediately after closing a program so I just assumed it was just hiccuping while that closed program was being put to bed.
I'll watch your responses to see if someone has a solution. It is kind of irritating.
If it works, don't fix it.

  9. USB 1.1 is ten times more likely to do it than USB 2.0.

I refuse to use a USB mouse unless its connected to USB 2.0. The mouse freezes for a couple of seconds every time the CPU is loaded heavily.
