Matrix Effect with Premier Pro

I just finished the tutorial on how to make my own matrix effect with Premier Pro...now I am wondering if I can actually use it. We all know it comes from a movie, but since I DID make it, using my OWN software, does it still fall under copyright laws. The fonts are similar, but not the same. The way the rain of code drops is obiviously not the same...just wondering if my 18 hours of work can be used in promo videos (NOT PORNO)

i believe you can use it -- its just an effect and it was used before you saw it in the matrix ...

of course lately anything is open to debate

I would think so. Does it look exactly like the Matrix intro, or does it just borrow look & feel?

From another standpoint it's less of an issue of whether the effect will get you in trouble with the creators of The Matrix or if those clients that you use that effect for will make the connection and think less of it for "doing what has already been done". Be careful who you make the stuff for, unless I were specifically told to spoof a movie in some way like that on the client's project I wouldn't do it just for that fact. There's a lot of wierd clients who think they're film critics
