  1. I've been having a problem, and think I've narrowed it down to DVD Decrypter:

Note: all DVD media used (except the listed DVD+RW) is of the same brand.

First, I had certain DVD's that would play in my XBox, but not my (older) JVC player. Obviously, thought it was the JVC, especially as many original discs wouldn't play as well.
One disc in particular that wouldn't play in the JVC also wouldn't play in my dad's Toshiba SD1600. Dismissed it as a quirk.
Bought a new Sony 665. Same disc gave me a "Dirty Disc Error"
At this point, I pounded my head against the wall a few times.
I decided to try a DVD+RW with DVD Decrypter. Same problem.
Took same original with a (same brand, but different disc) and copied using DVDXCopy.
    It worked in the Sony!
    Whoo!

But now, the question is - what is DVD Decrypter doing wrong? It looks like the JVC was having problems anyway, but now it looks like I'm dealing with a DVD Decrypter issue as well.

  2. That's an interesting issue... Ive yet to have a compatability problem when ripping as files with the latest edition of DVDdecrypter in any of my players... This includes an older Panasonic my girlfriend owns... I try to use TDK+R 4x (ricoh japans), but have used other lesser grade media (IE Memorex-R 4x Taiwan) with equal success...

The only suggestion I can offer is to perhaps tinker with different brands of media... From experience, when I come across an odd issue, the solution tends to present itself with the media most of the time... Especially considering its a random one youve come across.
