My Samsung SM332B DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive seems to be having a few problems. When you insert a disc, the drive begins to spin up then there is a loud grating noise. This happens over and over again until the disc is ejected. This doesnt sound good to me. anyone have any ideas?

I have the same drive. Mine came with my Dell Dimension 4500 several years ago. With the price of DVD Burners nowadays....just replace it. You probably wont have the blazing 8x (
) ripping speed of the Samsung but hey. You'll get over it I'm sure.

Mine came with my Dimension 4550. I do have Sony DRU 510A as well, but i still used the samsung for burning cd's

I'm using both for CD burning. I still haven't figured out which one is the better CD burner. My problem is finding decent CD media anymore. I bought white topped 52x Verbatim's and they suck. The Sony's are working out OK. I used to buy the "house brand" from a place here in Germany called Media Markt which were the BEST I ever had....now they stopped selling them.....bastages.

I'm having trouble with mine, too. It reads and writes CD-ROMS fine, but won't read DVDs at all - Explorer says the DVD is blank, when I know it isn't. Anybody know why?
Thanks!
